Temptations?

Posted in Weekend Update by Lori
Jun 20 2009

A Birthday party to attend, cake, ice cream, chips, dip,  temptations can be everywhere.  Change your perspective about temptations (birthday parties).  Be excited and thankful that you get to spend the day with family, and friends and celebrate.

When you focus on the food, that is what you will see and be attracted to.  Focus on the event, people, place and enjoy the social aspect of the party.  All of a sudden it is no longer a temptation, it is a fun, fulfilling event.

Today I am celebrating my Niece’s Birthday and the joy of having her in my life.  Which is secondary compared to the love and joy she has brought to my Brother and Sister-In-Law.  HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY JENNY!!!!

Cake and ice cream, who cares?  Not me.  Remember the Henry Ford quote “Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.”

Change

It’s not that some people have willpower and some don’t.  It’s that some people are ready to change and others are not.

Are you ravenous?

Posted in Tipsy Thursday by Lori
Jun 18 2009

Being a little hungry before mealtime is healthy.  Being ravenous, is not.  Pay attention to your body, have a healthy snack between meals.  It helps you make healthier choices at mealtime.   Make a list of healthy snacks that you will enjoy and make sure you have them at home, at your office or where ever you are.

Eating Healthy, it isn’t just for weight loss

Posted in Wellness Wednesday by Lori
Jun 17 2009

Making healthy food choices isn’t just to lose weight.  It actually helps your brain and all your other organs function better.
Want to feel energetic and awake at 3 pm, choose a lighter, healthier lunch.  Baked or grilled fish, a side salad and a single serving of brown rice, or have the fish on a big salad.
You will notice quite a difference in your afternoon if you choose healthy at lunch.

Cheese Sauce

Posted in Tasty Tuesday by Lori
Jun 16 2009

Are you getting bored with plain vegetables?  Try this low calorie, low fat cheese sauce.

1 cup chicken or vegetable broth (bring to boil)
1-2 ounces goat cheese (spreadable) added to boiling broth
Season according to meal (Cajun, Italian, etc)
Stir and let cheese melt, add 1 tbls. corn starch mixed with 2 tbls. cold water or cold broth.
It will thicken quickly and you are set to pour over vegetables.

This is also delicious over a baked potato or over a piece of grilled chicken.

Eat more fruit, it’s as simple as 1 2 3!

Have Fruit on hand and ready to eat.  Wash, cut, and store in containers in the fridge for you and the whole family to enjoy.  Fruit is a healthy sweet treat, because it tastes wonderful and is loaded with nutrients, fiber, and water.  Make a habit of eating at least 2 servings every day.  Remember:  fresh, frozen, and even canned fruits qualify as fruit servings. 100% fruit juice is also acceptable.

1. Don’t feel like cutting it all up yourself,  treat yourself to a fruit platter, even if you are not having a party.  I always think it tastes much better if I don’t have to do all the work.
2.Freeze grapes and Blueberries and you’ll enjoy a cool treat for hot days.
3. Make a refreshing fruit smoothie with yogurt or skim milk, berries, and frozen banana.  Blend until creamy and enjoy!

I am Worthy, I am

Posted in Lori's Corner by Lori
Jun 04 2009

I AM WORTHY!  We may say this and “believe” it, but our actions may not.
If I am worthy, what makes me feed my body unhealthy foods?

What makes me overeat?

How we act is much more important than what we say.
Going forward treat your body, mind and soul with healthy foods, portions, time and love.

Repeat multiple times daily in front of a mirror looking into your eyes.
I AM WORTHY, SIMPLY BECAUSE I AM!
I AM DESERVING!
I CAN DO ANYTHING!

Those damn stairs, where’s the escalator?

Posted in 7 Strategies for Weight Loss by Lori
Jun 02 2009

You don’t have to get on a treadmill everyday, hell you don’t even have to go to a gym.
Just start to move more, get in activity daily.

Park further away at the store, at work, anywhere.  Take a flight of stairs instead of the elevator or escalator.  Take your time with your activity, if you haven’t been doing anything, then anything is better than nothing.  Start with walking in place during commercials on TV.  The more you move the more you will want to move.

Take your first steps, you can’t get to the finish line if you don’t take that first step.

Do you want help getting to the finish line, check out LOSE YOUR BUTT AND YOUR GUT Tele-Class starting June 3rd.
